The new Interpretation Boards and Signposts have now been installed.
What do you think about them?
The new signage has been mainly paid for by the FOEP as part of the agreed programme funded by the lottery. The “Friends” and the Parks and Open Spaces Department of Royal Greenwich worked together to produce the design and content. The “Friends” are really pleased with them and delighted that visitors to the park find them very informative.
We confess that there is a slight error on the Interpretation Board sited at the Eaglesfield Road entrance to the park! Unfortunately the “you are here” arrow points to the Foxcroft Road entrance! We will see how we can remedy this, without too much expense.
Did you spot it?
There is also a “two armed” signpost at the Eaglesfield Road entrance which indicates the location of the wildlife pond and the wildlife meadow on the opposite side of Eaglesfield Road. This is simple but very effective and hopefully more people will become aware of the existence of the wildlife pond and the fact that the Lower Meadow is part of Eaglesfield Park (and not just a “spare” piece of land!).
The community notice board shared by the Eaglesfield Park Neighbourhood Watch Scheme and Friends of Eaglesfield Park has been repositioned following concerns from older people who had tripped whilst trying to read the information displayed. From a Health & Safety point of view, hopefully the new position will prevent “near misses”.
The new signage is a great way to end what has been a very successful 2014. Here’s looking forward to the new year.
